The Institute is the sole representative for architectural profession in Singapore.

The Singapore Height Datum (SHD) is the vertical datum at the height of 0.000 metre. The Singapore Land Authority introduced the term in 2015 for standardisation across the construction industry.
Prior to that, the industry used the datum ‘Above Mean Sea Level’ (AMSL) which is vertical datum at the height of 100.00 metres.

Unlike the Gross Floor Area (GFA), the Statistical Gross Floor Area (SGFA) is ‘the aggregate of the floor areas of all the storeys, including basements, in all of the buildings in a development’, as defined by the BCA.
The BCA and the SCDF require development proposals to include the SGFA calculations.
