Bill of Quantities (BQ)

The Bill of Quantities (BQ) is a legal document used in the tendering of the construction project. It is usually prepared by a Quantity Surveyor.

The BQ itemises the costs of the entire construction project, including material costs and labour costs. There is usually a contingency sum for the project listed in the BQ.

Notice of Approval

The Notice of Approval (NOA) is the approval in writing by the SCDF on any fire safety work proposal. The NOA must be obtained before the commencement of the proposed fire safety works.

The SCDF requires such proposal to be made in accordance with the SCDF Fire Code, and to be submitted by a Qualified Person (QP). The QP has to make further submission to the SCDF to obtain the Fire Safety Certificate before the premises can be occupied.

Terrace Houses

A type of landed housing where three or more landed houses are joined together in a row.

The URA further classifies them into intermediate terrace houses and corner terrace houses.

Semi-Detached Houses

A type of landed housing where two units of landed house are joined with a common party wall.

Landed Housing and Strata Landed Housing

Landed houses are residential buildings with their own individual land titles, while strata landed housing development comprises housing units within a common site with shared communal facilities.

The URA designates land area for different housing types. Each having its own set of planning guidelines. The following are the different types of landed housing:
Bungalows or detached houses;
Semi-detached houses; and
Terrace houses.
