An inspection chamber (IC) is an access point to the underground sewerage for inspection and maintenance purposes within the development site.
Sewer lines carrying wastewater from the buildings are joined to the sewerage at the ICs. The ICs are then joined to the public manholes for discharge.

Under the Civil Defence Shelter Act 1997, all new houses and flats must have household shelters (HS) and/or storey shelters (SS) incorporated into the development.
The HS and SS are the two types of residential shelter to protect the users from weapon effects during wartime. Wall and slab thicknesses, area, height, position, electrical and communication components of the shelters are regulated by the SCDF.
A HS is located within the residential unit while a SS is located at a common area of a storey and serves the residents of that storey.

The fire hose reel is a part of the fire protection system of a building for water supply. The building occupants use it to extinguish a fire at its initial stage.
The SCDF requires that fire hose reels be provided on every storey of a building at strategic locations, with exemption on some buildings.

The gross floor area (GFA) generally consists of the floor area of covered area, except some public area with no commercial use, and uncovered commercial spaces. The URA uses the GFA of each development to ‘determine the development intensity of a building’.
The GFA should not be confused with the Statistical Gross Floor Area.
