Mukim (MK)

Mukim (MK) is the survey district used by the Singapore Land Authority to identify land parcels outside the city area. Land parcels in the city area are identified with the survey district ‘Town Subdivision’ (TS).

Mukim is a loanword from the Malay language, which means ‘live’, or ‘stay’, and is originated from the Arabic language.

Manhole (MH)

A manhole is an access point to the underground public sewerage for inspection and maintenance purposes. Sewer lines from the inspection chambers are joined to the public sewerage at the manholes.

The access point to an underground telecommunication facility is also known as a manhole.

Mechanical & Electrical Engineer (M&E)

M&E engineers are responsible for designing the building services of the development, such as, gas and electricity supply, plumbing system, fire protection, air-conditioning and ventilation.

An M&E engineer has to obtain a practising certificate from the Professional Engineers Board Singapore (PEB) to practise as a Qualified Person.

A Main Distribution Frame (MDF) is a signal distribution frame or cable rack used in telephony to interconnect and manage telecommunication wiring between itself and any number of intermediate distribution frames and cabling from the telephony network it supports.
